Timetables

The ICHEC library offers a free working space- equipped with computers- for all students during its opening hours.

Books are not in free access, so please check the opening hours at the front desk if you wish to look at or borrow books.

You are free to ask the front desk for books until 15 minutes before closing time (12.15/ 16.15 or 19.45 on Wednesday).

 

Borrowing and on-site consultation

Borrowing

If you wish to borrow a document from the library:

  1. An online catalogue allows you to search for documents and check their availability.
  2. Please fill the form "Demande de consultation" (you will find at the desk) and indicate the 'cote de rangement' (booking number) of requested document.
  3. Bring the form to the front desk, together with your student card.

Borrowing is free for students showing their student card.

 

Numbre of borrowed documents: you are allowed to borrow maximum 3 documents.

Journals and dictionaries are open for on site consultation only (no borrowing).

Confidential theses are neither consulted nor borrowed.

 

Length: Books and theses from the last 5 years can be borrowed for 2 weeks. Theses older than 5 year: on site consultation only (not borrowing). Your return date will be clearly indicated for each borrowed document.

You are allowed to extend your borrowing for 2 more weeks (by phone, 02/739.37.17).

Any delay will cost you 0,25 cents a day.

Reservation can be made at the front desk or by phone 02/739.37.17.

 

On-site consultation

If you wish to have a look at a document from the library:

  1. An online catalogue allows you to search for documents and check their availability.

One-site consultation is free for students showing their student card.

Catalogue

An online catalogue allows you to search for documents.

Documents are sorted A or B for books, M for theses (Mémoires), E for information brochures, RF for reference documents, P for paper journals, PE for electronic journals.

ICHEC does not (yet) offer e subscriptions to paying databases, but you can access free databases via the weblinks that you will find under ‘Ressources électroniques par thèmes’.

 

Online theses

You have online access to ICHEC theses from the catalogue using your login and password.

 

Other libraries in Brussels

With your ICHEC student card, you have free access to all the academic libraries (of the Communeauté française).

These libraries do offer access to paying databases of scientific publications.

Code of conduct

Each ICHEC student makes a commitment to :

Act properly, respectfully and politely on the library premises

Respect the timetables and deadlines imposed by the library

Respect the copyright rules : any photocopy must be for private use only, photocopying any book integrally is not allowed

Comply with the rules regarding the use of IT and computers

Be silent, bring no food nor drinks on the library premises.
